Ten Things Friday? - Birthday Edition

I know Friday isn't Thursday, but better late than never, eh?   Thanks, Laura Belle for this outlet of sorts to get all these random thoughts outta my head for a bit.

1.  So, today is my 34th birthday and it's been a great one.  I have been working since before the sun was all the way up and won't be home for a few more hours, but it's been great.  I love my hubs and kiddos!

2.  Since Monday, I have put in about 88 hours.  I'm T-I-R-E-D!  My dogs are definitely barking.

3.  I go in for my pre-op appt on Tuesday.  Surgery, 1 week after.  Sooooo excited!

4.  Kinda wishing it rains in the morning so my son's baseball games are cancelled and I can sleep in a little.  I know it's selfish, but he's 8.  He's got a whole lifetime of baseball to play.

5.  Now I feel guilty and selfish for admitting #4

6.  2 more Rangers games and 1 Cowboys game left until I get some rest.

7.  Looking forward to going to the Dallas Margarita Ball in November.  My friend invited us and I am so looking forward to it.  It's a black-tie charity event.  Who doesn't love to dress up in fancy clothes??  And drink margaritas??  For charity, no less??

8.  I hope they start construction on our new pool this coming week.  I'm ready to get my swim on!

9.  I hear fireworks upstairs.  I wish I could see them.

10.  Did I mention I was tired?

Have a fantabulous weekend my friends!!

Ten Things Thursday

What a week!

1.  18 days, people!!  That's all, just 18 days.  I am so excited and nervous and excited.  Did I say I was excited?

2.  So, with regular season baseball coming to an end, chatter about the future of Josh Hamilton is heard everywhere.  Can I just say, I don't want to see him leave? (Insert super pouty face here)

3.  Cowboys start their regular season on Sunday here at home.  Not looking forward to being at the stadium at 7:30 AM for work, but I like the payday.

4.  I think I have decided that I want to add a 5K to my list of goals.

5.  Has anyone tried SUP (Stand-Up Paddling)?  We live about half a mile from the lake and I know soon it will be less than ideal temps for being in the lake, but maybe for next summer.  Hmmmm...

6.  We received the approval today from our HOA to go ahead with construction of our new pool!  It will be heated, too!!  Double yay!!  We recently had to remove our in ground pool because the HOA prohibits them though they never gave us a reason other than "it's in the bylaws".  Stupid HOA, grrrr.

7.  Hubby and Larry are replacing the brake pads on the truck today.  That grinding noise is like nails on a chalkboard.

8.  Speaking of chalkboards, do they even have those in schools anymore?  I had to buy dry-erase markers for my son's class yesterday.

9.  I cleaned the pantry on Sunday.  Took everything out and organized it all in pretty little bins.  I really need to get them labeled so hubby can find his snacks.

10.  Watching Friends re-runs is awesome!  It's just as funny as the first time I saw them.

Have a great day my band buddies!!

One-Armed Paper Hanger

When my schedule is hectic, I always think of the "I Love Lucy" episode when she and Ethel meet catastrophe in their attempt to hang wallpaper.    The glue is drying faster than they can hang the paper and the result is this...
I kind of feel that way today...this week...this month...this year.  I am trying to get so much done in such a small amount of time that I can't give 100% to any one thing and every thing ends up like Lucy's wallpaper up there.

I do it to myself mostly.  I try to be the perfect wife and mother, employee and boss and end up feeling like a failure at all of them.  I'm only one person and can only do so much but I feel like I should be able to do it all.

So, I'm going to take a deep breath and do what I can, when I can.  I know none of it is going to go away, but I can try to let up on myself and my need to be perfect.

Just breathe.

Ten Things Thursday...The Maiden Voyage

In my band-blogging research most everyone has TTT.  Well, since everyone else is jumping from the bridge, why the hell shouldn't I?  So, here goes...

1.  My kids had their annual check ups at the pedi yesterday and I'm still traumatized by the experience. They were total babies about everything.  They are 8 and 6 and cried before we even left their school to head to the dr office.  So worried about getting shots. I told them IF they had to it was an inevitable part of life. Deal with it. After all the normal checkup stuff, the only "shot" they needed was their flu vacc. Fortunately, they had the FluMist, yay for me, right?  WRONG!  The youngest went first and ended up jerking her head back and scratching her nasal lining with the syringe causing a bloody nose and that set the older one off.  We ended up having to restrain both of them to get it done and all three of us were crying when it was over. Motherhood sucks sometimes.

2.  I need a housekeeper.

3.  I have 2 events on Friday (Rangers and HS football at Cowboys) and 3 events on Saturday (Rangers, FC Dallas and college football at Cowboys).  I despise having multiple events on the same day.  Total scheduling nightmare.

4.  I really need to do laundry (see #2).

5.  I have an outer/middle ear infection and it sucks.

6.  Taking my daughter to see JUSTIN BIEBER on October 29th.  Tickets officially purchased!!  She is gonna go nuts when she finds out!

7.  Does anyone else think 2 hours of practice on Tuesday's and Thursday's plus a double header game each Saturday is a little much for 8 year old baseball players?  I vote yes!

8.  Billy Madison never gets un-funny.

9.  Is it nap time yet?

10.  I love my kids and husband more than life!

The Countdown Begins

I did it - I scheduled my Lap Band surgery with gastric plication for Tuesday, October 9th!  It seems like it's gonna take forever to get here, but I know it will be here before I know it, especially with our schedule for this month.  I wanted to do it much sooner, like tomorrow, but my calendar is about to explode.  It's going to be a long hard road and a big lifestyle change, but I'm beyond ready.

In the beginning...

Today I go in for my Lap-Band consultation, wish me luck!  I am ready to change my life for the better, for me.  I am so blessed to have a supportive husband who wouldn't want to change anything about me, but wants me to be a happier me.
